Sales Assistant - Job Description

JOB TITLE: Sales Assistant MSI:113A65


Assists assigned Sales Engineers in procedures required for obtaining new business and maintaining existing business. Processes and maintains contract packages.

Major Duties:

Daily, supports assigned Sales Engineer(s) by:

Completing and issuing Requests for Quotation

Completing and issuing Engineering Tooling Notices

Completing and issuing Engineering Change Notices

Completing and issuing sample requests

Submitting completed forms to appropriate Unique Fabricating committees for approval

Handling customers questions and concerns

Utilizing online RFQ systems. Stays up to date on system changes.

Completing price breakdown forms

Obtaining general working knowledge of

Knowing and complying with company
Quality/Environmental system and procedures, work instructions and policies applicable to daily work activities.

Handling assigned house accounts

Verifying and processing purchase orders

Creating and maintaining job files (contract packages)

As needed:

Composes and types letters and memos

Prepares sales reports

Completes forms

Sends Credit Application form to new customers

Sends yearly Customer Satisfaction Survey to customers

Supports other Sales Assistants and Engineers

Completes surveys received from customers

Participates in conference calls

Participates in online training

Delivers and picks up parts

Meets with customers

Packages and ships parts and sends documents

Helps to organize meetings and luncheons


Previous office experience

Knowledge of office procedures and machines

Dealing with difficult people would be a plus

Knowledge of the Automotive Industry is a plus

Knowledge and Skills:

Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn Lotus Notes and Pear Tree System

Basic math skills

Ability to do multiple tasks, work at a fast pace and meet deadlines

Detail oriented and highly organized

Excellent written and oral communication skills

A professional demeanor

The flexibility to work irregular hours, if needed

Physical Requirements:

The ability to move to other parts of the office area and the plant

The ability to perform activities such as walking, bending, standing and lifting material weighing 25 lbs. or more


Reports to the Manager Estimating / Sales Administration

Directly interacts with all departments and plants
